Quite the busy Saturday for a lot of local kids. Much more action today.

Good Sunday morning.....

First, I see that we have been found on Google's search engine, so if you Google "Sno Valley Sports" you should be able to find us there.

Now, we have a big scoreboard spread for you today. A lot of baseball and softball, mostly Little League stuff. The two teams to watch are the Falls' (Fall City/Snoqualmie Ridge) "Majors" 11/12s softball and the Sno-Valley's 10/11 "Minors" baseball teams. Both of those teams are one win away from their district title series. Good luck to the boys and girls on those teams as they move forward.

Waking up on this Saturday morning to the latest news.....

A couple of items in Florida.

Another story in the Tampa Tribune, this time about the increasing frequency of transfers in high school sports, especially football, within the Tampa area and the effect that its having on school teams.

Down the coast to Bradenton, and a story from the Herald there about upcoming decisions that will affect the FHSAA as it pertains to those cuts to sports schedules and the Title IX suit we mentioned yesterday.

More later.

Today in Kirkland.....(Parental advisory-explicit lyrics)

Kittitas Valley Hoops played a tight opening game at the Midsummer Night's Madness girls' basketball tournament. The Ellensburg-based team with Mount Si players Kassidy Maddux and Stevie Riley and coached by former Snoqualmie city department head Kirk Holmes, fell by one point in heartbreaking fashion, 61-60, to the Lake Elite team out of Monroe. KVH was fouled with a few seconds left on the clock on a three-point attempt. They needed to hit all three free throws to win, but only hit one and fell. Lake Elite was likely p'd about what went on, but then breathed a sigh of relief after the misses at the stripe. More on this in a second.

No score yet from game two, but KVH won the second game today. They play tomorrow night at 7:30 at the UW.

Now back to game one. What the hell were the ref's thinking? You do not blow the damn whistle as a referee when the game is on the line like that unless it is plainly obvious that a foul was committed there. You let the KIDS decide the game on the court. We'll see if we can get a video clip of that and we'll show it here for all to see. I would guess Lake Elite's coaches and parents were probably unhappy that a whistle was called there in that spot. But as it turned out, they fought through and made it out of there winners.

On the Friday cooler.....

News items for discussion.

First, from the Tampa Tribune, Florida high school sports officials, facing a Title IX lawsuit, are retreating from plans to cut high school sports schedules.

One of the issues that likely came up in the discussion about whether to build a second high school in our community was whether the new school would have its own athletic complex. This Iowa community is now having the same discussion.

New rules in Tennessee regarding when football players can practice based on weather and heat conditions.

Pay-to-play coming to a California district.

Games of interest today as girls hoops takes the floor at a big Seattle tournament. We'll keep you posted.

On the cooler for today.....

A couple of quickies.....

First, West Virginia's state board of education votes on high school sports changes. See here what they did. The story which is linked comes from the Charleston Daily Mail.

And, a story about summer baseball. This is out of the L.A. area.

Speaking of summer baseball, we'll get to the Little League stuff and select stuff hopefully today or tomorrow.

Something is wrong with this picture........

A store that we tend to shop at from time to time is called Star Struck. This internet store sells a lot of sports apparel and memorabilia from all pro sports and many colleges as well. Heck, these guys even sell Western Washington U. stuff on there. They're based in Illinois.

Well, they happen to be selling these days replica throwback Mariners jerseys, their first models from when the club came to Seattle in 1977. They are selling them blank for $80, or you can buy one with Jay Buhner's name and number on one for about $100. Except there's one problem. The former Mariner great turned Mount Si assistant softball coach and dad to the team's top returning hitter in Brielle next year as a senior NEVER wore this jersey as a member of the Mariners. Buhner did not set up shop in this town until 1988, but once he did, the rest of course is history.

Thought we'd provide a little comic relief for you on hump day. We're closer to the weekend ahead than the weekend past.
